Story:
The porch was her favorite place. Not because of the view, though the hills did stretch wide and the sky poured gold most evenings. It was her favorite because it was quiet. Because it held space for two. Because it rocked with rhythm, even when everything else stood still.
They built it together — a summer project turned sacred ritual. Two chairs, placed just right. One for her, one for him. Morning coffee, evening sighs, laughter that echoed off old boards. But when she left, only one chair kept moving. The other sits frozen — untouched, waiting, refusing to creak.
Now he spends his evenings there, rocking gently, not to relax, but to remember. He tells the wind what he used to tell her. Points out clouds she'd name like animals. Every groan of the wood feels like a word she didn’t get to say.
