This was the emotional high point of the night. Brenda Lee was actually fifth on the bill. Nelson and Parton were at the height of their popularity, followed by Cash, who hosted, and Kristofferson. As the evening wore on, however, it became clear that her powerful vocals were the favorite of both the crowd and her fellow performers. An appreciative Kristofferson whispers "Sweet Nothin's" in her ear after this effort.
