GEOLOGY
The country rock is Charnockite
Massive Impervious Hard Rock below 5 0 m depth in most of the area
In the remaining areas the rock is exposed as outcrop
No Joints Fractures Fold and Lineaments
The massive rock nature prevents infiltration of surface water and standing the only cause of less groundwater potential in Courtallam Town Panchayat

HYDROLOGY
This area gets rainfall from NE Monsoon and SW Monsoon
Normal rainfall is more than 1000mm
Water Level at 3.0 m during summer and at GL during Winter
Generally the groundwater is potable
Abundant rainfall and surface water and flow in the Chittar River available but it couldn't became groundwater because of Massive Impervious Hard Rock in that area

RECOMMENDATIONS

1. 800 LPM Gravity main from the upstream side of the Chittaruvy Falls

2.200 LPM Gravity main from upstream side of Five Falls

3. New Openwell 5.50 m depth 6.0 m dia with two side borewells about 60 m length at Chittar River about 1 km down stream side of Main Falls

4.New Openwell opposite side of Five Falls Parking Area 5.50 m depth 5.0 m dia with 2 borewells about 50 m length

5.Existing two Openwells may be drilled each by two side borewells by 80 m length
