England’s King George II spent an impressive 33 years on the throne, from 1727 to his death in 1760. Notably, George II was the last British monarch to actually participate in battle — he led an army in 1743’s Battle of Dettingen. An impressive reign, for sure, but what’s less impressive is the manner in which the king died.
On October 25, 1760, George II collapsed on a different kind of throne than the one he was used to being seen on. While the term for his exact manner of death wouldn’t be coined until 1802, his autopsy report does make it pretty clear. Here are the disturbing details found in George II's autopsy report.
