Written back in 1985. this song is an extraordinary example of clever and unorthodox country music songwriting. The lyrics are almost in form of roleplaying where all 4 legends sing their part of the story. The story itself deals with life, death, reincarnation even. Hell, you even have the word 'Spaceship' in there :D That's why they call it outlaw country, because there are no rules.

The Highwaymen were an American country music supergroup, composed of four of country music's biggest artists who pioneered the outlaw country subgenre: Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson.
