Contrary to popular belief and most statements about it online, the heavily-edited theatrical cut of Heaven's Gate that entered wide release in April 1981 did NOT at all remove the rollerskating scene at all. Instead, it is only slightly shortened, adds the sound of the audience clapping to the sound mix in the second half of the scene, and employs many alternative takes.

Heaven's Gate is a 1980 epic western film directed by Michael Cimino, with music by David Mansfield, cinematography by Vilmos Zsigmond. It stars Kris Kristofferson, Isabelle Huppert, Christopher Walken, John Hurt, Jeff Bridges, and Sam Waterston.
