At the end of the night, at closing time, the weary bartenders and servers would often call out "Drink up folks, it's Hotel-Motel Time"
The party would then move to someone's hotel or motel room to continue into the early hours.
Having a guitar meant you were especially welcome.
A lot of Hank Williams and Merle Haggard songs were sung.
