I have been Jolene, and only 20 years later do I start to understand how wrong that was. It's complicated, as it always is when we feel the need to explain, even justify, and ultimately, ease the shame. I am singing this with my deepest apologies to a fellow sister I should have treated with much more respect. I should have done better, she deserved better, and so did I.
