With music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, “Light of a Clear Blue Morning” is from her album New Harvest...First Gathering from 1977. It came out of a difficult time in the songwriter’s life. The beginning of the song is somewhat somber and contemplative, but the figurative clouds lift and it ends with a fun and celebratory feel.

Dolly Parton is a prolific Grammy Award–winning songwriter, singer, and actress. Her album work spans from the 1960s to today. Her most famous songs include “I Will Always Love You,” “Jolene,” and “9 to 5.” Originally from Tennessee, she grew up singing in church and on local radio and TV shows.
