Exploring a creek in central Alberta looking for petrified wood, and we find a couple of giant pieces.
Edit to comment: My estimate on the weights of these pieces is way off. Likely the larger piece, that is along the river bank (approx 5' x 2') is in the 2,000-3,000 range.
The piece that is buried in the river, size cannot be determined, weight estimate of 250 pounds is laughable, now that I've done more research on petrified wood.
And from my research, the largest piece of petrified wood ever found in Alberta, is 6m by 88 cms, making the large piece that I found on the river bank, one of the very largest pieces of petrified wood ever found in Alberta.
