Devastating floods each year create havoc across North and East states. The country loses hundreds of lives and billions of property almost every monsoon. Finally, the government is planning to launch a massive initiative to get a permanent solution to fight floods. According to reports, a mega project worth Rs. 5.5 Lakh Crore to link as many as 60 rivers, including the mighty Ganges will be launched soon. PM Modi has personally pushed through clearances for the first phase of the project that would also generate thousands of megawatts of electricity. The mammoth project would be a mile stone for India if it succeeded to check the flood menace.
