“That's The Way Love Goes,“ a tender, succinct and affirmative love song, was written by Lefty Frizzell and Sanger D. Shafer. A lot of country songs are not positive and upbeat like this one. . . . . . . The mate's (in this instance, a woman) unblinking loyalty here reminds me of "My Elusive Dreams," written by Billy Sherrill and Curly Putman. . . . . In this song, the woman is fully supportive and stands behind her man every step of the way. Yeah, it feels significantly sexist today . . . . . but . . . . if you strip away the gender dynamics . . . you can appreciate its pureness as a love song.
