Turning Point USA launches 'All-American Halftime Show,' citing cultural pushback

Turning Point USA leaders say a new halftime-style concert was born out of years of cultural criticism and growing dissatisfaction with mainstream entertainment.

During an interview with The National News Desk, Andrew Kolvet, Turning Point USA's spokesperson, said the idea for the “All-American Halftime Show” evolved organically — beginning with a 2014 social media post by Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk criticizing halftime performances.

According to Kolvet, Kirk frequently commented on halftime shows over the years, sometimes drawing widespread attention online. As public debate intensified around recent pop culture performances, Turning Point leaders said they saw an opportunity to create what they describe as a family-friendly alternative.

“There are very few organizations positioned to step into this space,” Kolvet said, citing Turning Point’s experience producing large-scale events and cultural programming.

What began as joking commentary and media speculation eventually turned into a formal project after news outlets began asking whether the group planned to stage its own halftime show. Kolvet said the effort ultimately came together on a larger scale than initially expected.

The event will feature performances by Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett. Kolvet praised the artists for participating, calling their involvement “brave” and noting that some performers declined due to potential backlash.
