October 1965. High on amphetamines and out of control, Johnny Cash destroyed the Grand Ole Opry stage. But what happened afterward in his hotel room shocked everyone - even by Cash's wild standards.
Armed with nothing but his boot, Cash demolished an entire hotel room at the Andrew Jackson Hotel in Nashville. Smashed every light, kicked holes in walls, shattered mirrors, destroyed furniture. The chaos was so intense that hotel staff were too terrified to intervene.
The Grand Ole Opry banned him - the only performer they ever banned. But this rock bottom moment would eventually lead to his redemption. Sometimes you have to destroy everything to rebuild.
