At the 2026 Critics Choice Awards on January 4, Jimmy Kimmel won Best Talk Show for Jimmy Kimmel Live! and turned his acceptance speech into a full-on Trump roast plus free-speech manifesto. Kimmel thanked his writers, producers, actors and Hollywood unions for backing him after ABC suspended his show for six days in September 2025 over a controversial monologue about activist Charlie Kirk’s alleged shooter, saying they reminded him “we do not take free speech for granted” in this country.
