During a Wednesday meeting, President Donald Trump praised Liberian President Joseph Boakai for his English, asking where he had learned the language — despite English being Liberia’s official language. It should be noted that while English is the official language used in Liberia’s government and education systems, President Boakai is from the Kissi ethnic group and grew up speaking indigenous languages.
