Blues for Cádiz / Paul Winter Consort / Spanish Angel / Track 12

On the final night of the tour, the audience was clapping in an enthusiastic 6/8 Flamenco rhythm. Although the Consort was already taking their post-encore bow, this enthusiastic response from the crowd inspired Eugene Friesen to pick up his cello and begin a blues riff for the audience. What followed surprised everyone: Rhonda Larson gave her impression of Satchmo. It was her first and last vocal with the Consort, an appropriate trickster’s coda to her years of music-making with the band.

Written by Eugene Friesen, Paul Halley, Glen Velez, Rhonda Larson, Eliot Wadopian, Paul Winter (Living Earth Music, BMI)
