Dolly Parton received a $100 million award from Amazon Executive Chairman Jeff Bezos for her philanthropic work.

The iconic singer-songwriter is the latest recipient of the Bezos Courage and Civilization Award, which honors “leaders who set high goals, find solutions, and always do it politely,” commented journalist and Bezos partner Lauren Sanchez.

Parton, Bezos notes, “carries these ideas so carefully. She gives her heart, what she has done for children, literacy and more is incredible.”

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos plans to give away the bulk of his $124 billion fortune in his lifetime, which will dedicate much of his fortune to fighting climate change and supporting people who can unite humanity.

Although Bezos' pledge did not include details, this is the first time he has announced that he plans to give away most of his money.

Bezos has been criticized in the past for not signing the Giving Pledge, a campaign founded by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates to encourage the super-rich to give away most of their wealth to charity.
