I climbed Reynolds Peak in the Twisp River area on the the 5th of July.
The trail was the most difficult terrain of the entire climb. Its extremely overgrown, has several small landslides that have damaged the trail, many downed trees, and burned sections where the trail disappears completely. About 3 miles on trail, I turned South in to the forest. I initially crossed the creek and traveled on the East side of the South Fork Reynolds creek, but after a short time crossing downed tree after downed tree, I crossed the South Fork and traveled on the West side of the creek. Travel on that side of the creek was fairly easy going as long as I stayed higher up away from the creek, but had major Mosquito issues. Eventually, I broke out in to a basin, and after making my way around some dense brush using a series of burned areas to make travel easier, I made it to the base of a stream gully trending West. This, along with another west trending gully right next to it are the headwaters of the South Fork Reynolds Creek. I made my way up the creek to an upper snow covered basin and then turned North-Northwest finally on Reynolds itself. The lower slopes where straightforward and beautiful open country. The upper slopes where intermittently snow covered. The final scramble was loose in the lower section, but a fun somewhat airy scramble above. The views where magnificent.
I took a whopping 12 hours round trip. Navigation issues both in and out on the trail, distraction by the 1 million mosquitos along the South Fork Reynolds Creek, and tired muscles form Abernathy the day before slowed me down quite a bit.
